WADMALAW ISLAND— The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Shashonna Bellman.
Deputies found Bellman unresponsive when they arrived at a home on the 2700 block of Boy Scout Roadon Wadmalaw Island around 8:40 a.m. July 24, according to statements from the coroner's and sheriff's offices. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The manner of her death is pending further investigation, Charleston County Coroner Bobbi O'Neal said on July 25.

No arrests have been made. This is an active and ongoing investigation, according to a July 25 statement from the sheriff's office. No other details were made public.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the sheriff's office at 843-202-1700.
